Breeders' Cup 2026 Friday preview: our four star selections for Keeneland
Listen on Buzzsprout · Apple Podcasts · Spotify · YouTube
The Breeders' Cup starts on Friday night at Keeneland in Kentucky with Future Stars Friday: five Grade 1 races for two-year-olds. Europe has sent one of its strongest teams in years, the turf is good and the forecast is dry. All times UK.
6:55pm Juvenile Turf Sprint: Libertango
Winner of the Albany at Royal Ascot (with Sun Goddess behind her) and the Lowther at York, then second in the Cheveley Park. Drawn 3, with Flavien Prat riding. The worry is a slow start over five and a half furlongs, and she has never raced round a bend. Brickyard Belle is the American danger.
7:35pm Juvenile Fillies: Miss Monica
Bob Baffert's filly won the Del Mar Debutante, a Grade 1, by more than six lengths. A mile and a sixteenth on dirt is new, and Emphatic, unbeaten in three, is the main rival.
8:15pm Juvenile Fillies Turf: Sun Goddess
Six wins from eight, the last five in a row, with three Group 1s for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore. She beat Libertango in the Cheveley Park. A mile and a wide draw are the questions; Amusingly is the threat.
9:35pm Juvenile Turf: Haffner
The Royal Lodge winner stays further than stable-mate Great Barrier Reef, and Christophe Soumillon rides from stall 4. Joseph O'Brien's Folsom Blues, an easy National Stakes winner, is the one to beat.
Twister Tipster's full plays, stakes and prices are on our Breeders' Cup page. Part two, on Saturday's races, follows on Saturday morning. Results as they happen on our free Telegram channel.
