The Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle is the first Grade 1 of the British jumps season for the top two-milers, and often the first big clue to the Champion Hurdle in March. Last year Golden Ace won at 22/1 after Constitution Hill and The New Lion both fell. The Coral Gold Cup is at Newbury on the same afternoon. A Grade 1 hurdle over two miles and half a furlong, for the best two-mile hurdlers. It is a key trial for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Golden Ace, trained by Jeremy Scott and ridden by Lorcan Williams, at 22/1 in 2025. The favourite Constitution Hill and The New Lion both fell.
The Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, and the Coral Gold Cup (formerly the Hennessy and the Ladbrokes Trophy) at Newbury on the same Saturday.
